Health or Medical ProblemsOccasionally, grooming can expose a hidden medical problem or aggravate a current one. This can occur during or after grooming. Please make sure to alert us of any current or past issues so that we may keep an eye out for them. All medical expenses for veterinary care will be covered by the pet's owner
Pet IllnessIf your pet is ill, please reschedule your appointment so we do not pass that illness along to our other client’s pets. We will gladly find another time that will work for you when you call to let us know.
AccidentsAlthough accidents are exceedingly rare, there is a risk when dealing with animals. Grooming equipment is sharp, and although we use extreme caution and care in all situations, potential problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, etc. In most cases this can happen when an animal is wiggling or moving around. Your pet’s safety and comfort are our number one priority. In the event an accident does occur, you will be notified of the accident. If we feel it is serious, and the owner is not on-site, Spaw will seek immediate veterinary care for your pet at the closest vet clinic.
VaccinationsWe require all dogs and cats be vaccinated for rabies in accordance with Laws of North Carlina. We recommend all dogs be vaccinated for distemper and bordetella.PaymentPayment is due when services are rendered. We accept cash, check, credit, and debit cards. There will be $25 fee for all bounced checks.
Prescription ShampoosWe will gladly use prescription shampoo from your vet on your pet. We will return it to you when you pick up your pet.PerfumesIf you or anyone in your household has a sensitivity to perfumes and would prefer not to have any put on your pet, please let us know when you drop your pet off.
Cancellation and No-ShowWhen you make an appointment, we block off that time for your pet. When you do not give us notice we cannot fill that spot with another pet who would like to come in. No shows or last-minute cancellations (less than 24 hours’ notice) are subject to a fee of 50% of the scheduled groom which will be added to your next appointment.Senior Pets / Pets with medical issuesGrooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for senior pets or pets with health problems, and can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate a current condition(s) during or after the groom. Senior pets and pets with health problems have a greater chance of injury (including, without limitation, risk of death); these pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, in a manner that will not add to their stress. Spaw may determine in its professional opinion (keeping the best interest of your pet in mind) that the only available option is to stop or modify the service for the safety and well-being of your pet.
Coat ConditionIt is the goal of Spaw to make your pet’s grooming experience as stress free as possible. If the pet’s coat is matted, I understand that the groomer may have to shave the matts out rather than perform a painful dematting procedure. Removal of heavily matted coat can cause nicks, cuts, or abrasions due to skin growths trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet's skin allowing mold, fungus, or bacteria to grow, producing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. After-effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to regrow. Should my pet need veterinarian care after or during this process, the pet’s owner agrees to pay all veterinarian fees. In some cases, pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes. Prevention is the best defense by scheduling regular grooming appointments, every 4-8 weeks. For matting that can be brushed out but will take over 30 minutes of dematting a charge one dollar a minute will be added to the overall price of the groom.
Nervous/Anxious/ Aggressive PetsAlthough Spaw caters to pets with special needs, owners have the obligation to inform Spaw of any known nervous, fearful, aggressive, or other behavior traits their pet may have towards other animals or humans that may impact the grooming process. Behavioral charges will be decided by Spaw depending on the severity of the behavior and the time, skill, and equipment required to groom the pet. To prevent a career ending or physical injury to our staff, as well as harm to your pet, the groom or nail trim is over when it becomes dangerous for either of us. Our minimum charge is half the service fee for that pet’s service. If your pet should bite or harm staff, you agree to be responsible for all related medical bills, loss of earnings and equipment damage.
Payment PolicyEffective March 1, 2024, a Convenience Fee of 3.50% will be applied to all Credit/Debit Card Transactions. There is a minimum Convenience Fee of $1.00 for all transactions under $30.00.
